The Hamilton Film Group was founded in 2001 by three filmmakers: Matt Porterfield, Jordan Mintzer, and Jeremy Saulnier. At the time, we wanted to bypass existing models, take control of the process of production and distribution, and make regional, realist cinema. It was this business entity we used to make our first feature, Hamilton (2006). Truly independent, eight years later we’re still committed to making movies in Baltimore.
INVEST IN METAL GODS
In order to finance our second picture, Metal Gods, we intend to form an LLC, or Limited Liability Corporation, as a financing vehicle through which to raise the funds necessary for production. Two Hundred and Fifty (250) limited liability units in the LLC to be formed will be offered at $2,000.00 per unit. In addition to these tax-deductible equity investments, we are seeking donations to move ahead with development, continue casting, and begin pre-production on a shoot slated for August 2009.

At a time when the whole film industry is hurting, without competitive tax incentives Maryland is losing a lot of projects to other states and territories. Film productions stimulate the economy by providing jobs and spending money – we hire local crew, pay vendors, acquire locations and housing, and promote city living. In addition, because of its content and its grass-roots production model, Metal Gods will provide unique opportunities for young people in the Baltimore area to perform, work, and learn with professionals. We are dedicated to casting real kids – aspiring actors, non-actors, and amateurs – as well as providing internships to students who wish to gain experience working in the industry.
In our present economy it’s hard to find individuals willing to make big investments, especially investments that imply a degree of risk.
